Best practices and maximising battery life
Recommended practices to protect your device, extend battery life and ensure reliable performance
HALOS body cameras are designed for reliable, day-to-day operational use. Performance and longevity depend on how the device in charged, configured, handled and stored.
Following these best practices helps maximise performance, extend battery life and reduce long-term wear of your device.
Handling & Daily Use
- Power off the camera when it is not required
- Ensure the camera is securely mounted to prevent drops or impact damage
- Check battery level at the start of each shift
Recording & Configuration Best Practices
- Use default recording resolution and frame rate unless high quality is required
- Use double-press to start recording to avoid accidental recordings and unnecessary battery drain
- Avoid very long, continuous recordings where not operationally necessary
Charging & Power Management
-
Fully charge the camera before use
-
Avoid allowing the battery to drain completely
- Charge indoors at normal room temperature. Avoid charging in hot environments.
- Recharge when the battery reaches 20-30%
- Use HALOS charging docks and cable only
- When possible, remove the camera from the dock once fully charged
Optimizing Battery Performance
- Only enable the features you need
- GPS
- 4G
- Bluetooth
- If using 4G only, remove unused Wi-Fi networks to prevent background scanning
- If using GPS, switch from always tracking to only while recording
Storage & Environment
- Store cameras at room temperature
- Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat or cold
Care & Maintenance
- Keep the camera clean and dry
- Clean charging contacts regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth
- Ensure the camera is dry before charging
- Horizon models: IP68 waterproof
- Nano model: Not waterproof - avoid moisture exposure
